Community Guidelines
Code of conduct, photo consent, accessibility, safety. Trust starts before people arrive.A good gathering has invisible rules. Not written on a poster, but felt in the room. Below is the version we hope every Just Landed keeps in mind.
Code of conduct
A short version we recommend adding to your invite:
Just Landed is a space for real connection. We ask everyone to:
- Show up as your full self
- Listen more than you speak, especially in group moments
- Respect boundaries, including your own
- Ask before sharing photos or contact info
- Speak up if something feels off
We're all figuring this out. Be kind. Be patient. Be curious.
Keep it short. Print it on a card, add it to your invite, or just say it out loud at the start.
Photo consent and boundaries
- Ask before taking photos of individuals or small groups
- Say it in the invite: “We might take a few photos of the gathering. Let us know if you'd rather not be in them.”
- Never post identifiable photos without asking
- If you post on social media, tag only people who said yes
- A wide, unfocused shot of the gathering is usually fine. Anything closer, ask
Accessibility considerations
Try to think about:
You won't get every access need perfect on your first event. Ask people what they need. Adjust for next time.

- Trust your gut. If a moment or a person feels off, address it early.
- Have a co-host or friend on hand. Someone to notice with you.
- Have an exit line ready. “Hey, can I introduce you to someone else?” is a low-key way to break up an uncomfortable interaction.
- Debrief afterwards. Talk to a co-host or a friend after the event. Note what happened. Adjust for next time.
- If something serious happens (a safety issue, a boundary crossed), take it seriously. Reach out. Follow up. Don't sweep it under the rug.
A note on inclusion
Just Landed is for anyone who feels new, whatever new means to them. That includes:
- People who moved from another country
- People who moved from another state, city, or town
- People who have lived somewhere for years but still feel like outsiders
- LGBTQ+ folks navigating a new city
- Older adults, younger adults, and everyone in between
- People of all races, faiths, and backgrounds
If your gathering starts feeling homogenous, ask yourself who isn't showing up, and why.
